ANHC Staff Share Knowledge and Innovation at NWRPCA Spring Summit
We’re proud to highlight the contributions of several Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center (ANHC) team members who presented at the 2025 Northwest Regional Primary Care Association (NWRPCA) Spring Summit, held this year in Anchorage from May 18 to 20, 2025. This annual event brings together community health centers and partners from across Region 10 — Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington — to explore strategies that strengthen primary care, removing barriers to care, and organizational resilience.
The presence of ANHC staff as presenters reflects both the depth of expertise within our organization and our ongoing commitment to contributing to regional and national conversations about improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.
Presentations by ANHC Staff Included:
“Integrated Behavioral Health Model to Address Under-Resourced Community Needs”
Presented by By Thao, MPH, Behavioral Health Manager, and Robyn Davis, PhD, Behavioral Health Consultant, their session highlighted how ANHC’s integrated behavioral health model continues to evolve in response to the needs of our diverse patient population. By and Robyn shared how behavioral health is woven throughout the care experience at ANHC — from pediatric and refugee health services to high-risk obstetrics, cognitive screening, and psychiatric consultation. They also discussed how their team supports substance use intervention through SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment), and how behavioral health staff collaborate with ANHC’s mobile medical clinic and Ryan White Program to ensure care is accessible, coordinated, and grounded in trust. The session emphasized the power of relationship-based care and the importance of meeting patients where they are — physically, emotionally, and culturally.
“Integration is the key to providing care to the whole person. Patients feel more supported when they have a care team of individuals patterning with them,” says Davis.
“Vital Conditions for Equitable Health & Well-being: Bringing Differences, Shifting Narrative & Building the Will for All People & Places Thriving”
Lisa DH Aquino, MHS, CEO, presented alongside colleagues from The Rippel Foundation, Mat-Su Health Foundation, and Southcentral Foundation around the Vital Conditions framework as a tool for transforming systems and narratives to promote thriving communities. Lisa offered reflections on how ANHC applies this framework in practice, with real-world examples of collaboration, leadership, and advocacy that extend beyond clinical care.
“Revenue Cycle Optimization for Financial Stability”
Presented by Vadette “DeeDee” Fowler, CPA, CFO, and Shiva Marupudi, Director of Revenue Cycle, their session focused on actionable ways to strengthen financial sustainability in community health centers through process improvement, data-driven decision-making, and strategic team engagement. They shared how ANHC has refined its revenue cycle operations to better support the organization’s long-term viability and ability to serve patients.
“The revenue cycle is complex, but when it’s done right, it’s transformational! This isn’t just revenue cycle improvement. This is revenue cycle leadership,” says Marupudi.
Thought Leadership
These presentations showcased the depth and scope of ANHC’s expertise — from clinical integration and organizational leadership to financial stewardship — and emphasized the importance of community-centered innovation in health care.
The NWRPCA Spring Summit also provided a valuable opportunity for our staff to learn from other health centers, explore emerging trends, and build partnerships that support our mission. We’re proud of our team for representing ANHC and contributing to the shared goal of creating healthier communities where everyone can thrive.
Thank you to NWRPCA and the Alaska Primary Care Association for hosting this important gathering, and to our colleagues across the region for the continued inspiration. We look forward to building on this momentum and sharing more about how ANHC is working to advance health and well-being for all.
