New Grant Helps ANHC Enhance Heart Health Services for Patients

October 28, 2025

Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center (ANHC) is honored to be awarded a $5,000 grant from the Strengthening Organizations program of The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), with support from the Rasmuson Foundation.

For more than a decade, the Strengthening Organizations program has helped build the capacity of nonprofits across Alaska—investing in leadership, organizational development, and community resilience. This year, ACF redesigned the program to provide immediate, unrestricted support to nonprofits impacted by changes in federal funding. ANHC is deeply grateful to be among the organizations supported through this thoughtful and timely effort.

Strengthening Care for Our Patients

At ANHC, every investment in capacity translates to improved care for our patients. We plan to use this funding to help offset the purchase of a new EKG machine, which plays a vital role in preventive and primary care.

Each year, many ANHC patients receive onsite EKGs to help providers:

  • Screen for cardiovascular conditions

  • Monitor the impact of medications or interventions

  • Quickly identify potential urgent or emergency issues

The new EKG device will also improve workflows and create efficiencies for both providers and staff. Unlike our current briefcase-sized model, the new pocket-sized technology will free up valuable exam room space and make it easier for clinicians to provide care wherever it’s needed.

Building a Healthier Alaska Together

Support like this—especially at a time when community health centers are navigating rising costs and changing funding landscapes—helps ANHC continue providing high-quality, affordable care to more than 15,000 patients each year.

We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with ACF, whose leadership continues to strengthen the nonprofit sector statewide. This grant is not just an investment in equipment—it’s an investment in the health and wellbeing of our community.

Together, we’re proving that when Alaskans support Alaskans, our entire community grows stronger.
