When you apply for insurance, you will need:

  • Photo ID

  • Birthdates

  • Social Security Numbers

  • Green Cards for Permanent Residents, Certificates for Naturalized Citizens

  • Current income information (examples: pay stubs, social security letter, bank statements, or tax returns for self-employed)

Eligibility for programs depends on your household size and household income. 

 

If your income is too high to qualify for Medicaid or Denali KidCare, you may qualify for help in the Health Insurance Marketplace.

 

The Marketplace, often called "Obamacare," is a federal program that provides financial help paying for a health insurance plan from a private company. 

 

The amount of financial help is based on your projected income and tax family size.
